... Warm across eastern interior of Alaska today and Thursday...

Temperatures are in the 70s across the eastern interior this
afternoon, with the lower 80s in some location. Fairbanks hit 78
degrees by 4pm this afternoon, and may hit 80 in the next few
hours. This is the first day this year above 75 degrees in
Fairbanks.

Thursday is expected to reach the lower 80s at many locations
across the eastern interior, including Fairbanks.

Cooler conditions will return to the interior on Friday.

Fire Weather Warning
Issued: 2:55 PM AKDT Jun. 20, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Red flag warning remains in effect from 4 PM Thursday to
midnight akdt Thursday night for lightning for upper Tanana
Valley and the fortymile country...

* affected area... entire area.

* Lightning activity level... 4.

* Timing... Thursday between 4pm and midnight.

* Winds... west 5 to 15 mph with gusts up to 25 mph.

* Humidity... as low as 26 percent.

* Temperatures... 75 to 80.

* Impacts... ample lightning could lead to numerous new fire
starts.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that conditions are occurring or will
occur which could lead to the development of large and dangerous
fires. It is directed toward fire agencies, and through them, to
the public.

Please advise the appropriate officials or fire crews in the
field of this red flag warning.
