Excessive Heat Warning
Issued: 3:26 AM MDT Jun. 22, 2017 – National Weather Service

... Excessive heat warning remains in effect until 7 PM MST
Sunday...

* impacts... the continued very hot temperatures will
significantly increase the potential for heat related illness
for those working or exercising outdoors during the daytime,
or for those without access to adequate air conditioning.

* Affected areas... Pima County, the upper Gila River valley
including Safford, along with Santa Cruz, Cochise and southeast
Pinal counties.

* Temperatures... highs 106 to 118 degrees. Overnight lows will
not provide much relief.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

An excessive heat warning means that a prolonged period of
extremely hot temperatures will occur. Take extra precautions if
you work or spend time outside. When possible... reschedule
strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs
and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light
weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty
of water.

The occupational safety and health administration recommends
these additional steps to reduce risk during outdoor work...
schedule frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned
environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool
and shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency... call 911.
