Watches & Warnings

Flash Flood Warning
Issued: 5:04 PM MDT Aug. 21, 2018 – National Weather Service

... The Flash Flood Warning remains in effect until 645 PM MDT for
southern Mesa and west central Montrose counties...

At 501 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated showers and thunderstorms
producing additional heavy rain across the warned area. Radar
indicates half an inch to an inch of rain has fallen so far. Flash
flooding is expected to begin shortly.

Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will result in debris flow
moving through many of the fire affected drainages. The debris flow
can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Move away from recently burned areas. Life-threatening flooding of
creeks, roads and normally dry arroyos is likely. The heavy rains
will likely trigger Rockslides, mudslides and debris flows in steep
terrain, especially in and around these areas.
