the Rock River at Rock Valley.
* Until Sunday afternoon.
* At 10am Friday the stage was 18.18 feet.
* Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 16.00 feet.
* Forecast... the river will rise to 18.5 feet by Friday September 21.
* At stages near 19.0 feet... Rock Valley begins to experience flood
problems and sandbagging of storm sewers in the city begins.

* Until Saturday evening.
* At 09am Friday the stage was 16.19 feet.
* Record flooding is occurring and record flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 14.00 feet.
* Recent activity... the river rose above flood stage on Thursday
September 20.
* Forecast... the river is near crest.
* At stages near 16.0 feet... County roads begin to flood.

the Big Sioux River above Hawarden.
* Until Wednesday afternoon.
* At 09am Friday the stage was 28.55 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 20.50 feet.
* Forecast... the river will rise to 29.8 feet by Sunday September 23.
* At stages near 30.5 feet... Iowa Highway 10 begins to flood.

the Big Sioux River near Canton.
* Until further notice.
* At 10am Friday the stage was 1239.46 feet.
* Flood stage is 1235.00 feet.
* At stages near 1238 feet... nearly all crop and pasture land in the
1/2 mile wide flood plain will be inundated.

the Floyd river at Alton.
* Until late Saturday night.
* At 10am Friday the stage was 19.07 feet.
* Major flooding is occurring and major flooding is forecast.
* Flood stage is 12.00 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue to fall to below flood stage by
Saturday September 22.
* At stages near 18.0 feet... the entire flood plain is under water
and the river is about 1/2 mile wide. The flooding still primarily
only affects agricultural land.

northern Clay County in southeastern South Dakota...
Lincoln County in southeastern South Dakota...
Yankton County in southeastern South Dakota...
Turner County in southeastern South Dakota...
northern Union County in southeastern South Dakota...
Hutchinson County in southeastern South Dakota...

* until 1230 am CDT Saturday.

* At 1229 am CDT, emergency management continued to report Road and
field flooding across the warned area.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Yankton, Spencer in Clay County, Sioux Center, Orange City,
Sheldon, Canton, Hawarden, Beresford, Parker, Harrisburg, Tea, Rock
Valley, Hull, Lennox, Hartley, Sanborn, Freeman, Alton, Paullina
and Primghar.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
