Flood Warning
Issued: 10:53 AM EST Feb. 19, 2018 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the White River at Petersburg.
* From Wednesday evening until further notice.
* At 9:30 am Monday the stage was 14.4 feet.
* Flood stage is 16.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Wednesday evening and continue
to rise to near 21.7 feet by early Wednesday morning.
* At 21.3 feet... State Road 257 south of Washington began to flood
during may 2008 after local rains of more than an inch on very wet
soils with Petersburg at 21.3 feet and rising and Shoals at 15.5
feet and rising.

The Flood Warning continues for
the White River at Edwardsport.
* From Wednesday evening until further notice.
* At 7:00 am Monday the stage was 10.7 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... rise above flood stage by Wednesday before midnight and
continue to rise to near 20.8 feet by Sunday morning.
* At 20.0 feet... water is at critical levels for makeshift levees.
Most of bottomlands flood. Old Vincennes Road and State Road 358
between Plainville and Edwardsport are impassable by several feet.
High water surrounds river Cabins. This type of flood occurs on
average about once a year.

... Strong gusty winds are expected to continue until nightfall...

Sustained winds this afternoon will continue at 15 to 25 mph out
of the south, with gusts in the 30 to 40 mph range, for the
remainder of the daylight hours. Isolated gusts above 40 mph are
possible, especially where cloud cover thins out. Winds are
expected to diminish somewhat after nightfall, but will still
remain gusty.

Expect these strong winds to impact area travel and outdoor work,
so be advised, especially if driving a high profile vehicle.
Mobile homes and construction sites will feel the impact of these
winds and gusts. Also on area lakes, the southern orientation of
the wind will create especially choppy conditions for north to
south running lakes, like Rend Lake, Barkley and Kentucky lakes,
as well as other lakes and rivers.
