Areal Flood Warning
Issued: 8:32 PM EDT Sep. 23, 2018 – National Weather Service

... A Flood Warning remains in effect until 1015 PM EDT for southern
Boyd... Lawrence... southeastern Carter and northwestern Wayne
counties...

At 636 PM EDT, County officials reported continued flooding in the
Fallsburg area of Kentucky. Up to 2 to 2.5 inches of rain have
already fallen. Heavier rain has moved off to the east of the
warning, however, with the heavier rainfall earlier, flooding is
expected to continue along many creeks, streams, and low lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Louisa, Blaine, Grayson Lake State Park, Yatesville lake State Park,
Fort Gay, Webbville, Denton, Burnaugh, rush, Durbin, Centerville,
Dunlow, Martha, Lockwood, Glenhayes, Hitchins, Genoa, Mavity, Grahn
and Gallup.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

The Flash Flood Watch is now in effect for

* portions of northeast Kentucky, southeast Ohio, and West
Virginia, including the following areas, in northeast
Kentucky, Boyd, Carter, Greenup, and Lawrence KY. In southeast
Ohio, Gallia and Lawrence OH. In West Virginia, Barbour,
Boone, Braxton, Cabell, Calhoun, Clay, Doddridge, Gilmer,
Harrison, Jackson WV, Kanawha, Lewis, Lincoln, Logan, Mason,
Mingo, northwest Fayette, northwest Nicholas, northwest
Pocahontas, northwest Raleigh, northwest Randolph, northwest
Webster, Putnam, Ritchie, Roane, southeast Fayette, southeast
Nicholas, southeast Pocahontas, southeast Raleigh, southeast
Randolph, southeast Webster, Taylor, Upshur, Wayne, Wirt, and
Wyoming.

* Through Monday afternoon

* soils across the area are nearly saturated due to previous
rainfall. Additional showers and thunderstorms, some with heavy
rain, are expected to affect the area through Monday afternoon.


* Flash flooding of creeks, streams and low lying areas will be
possible.

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
