Dense Fog Advisory
Issued: 3:37 AM EST Dec. 11, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Dense fog advisory in effect until 9 am EST this morning...

The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a dense fog
advisory, which is in effect until 9 am EST this morning.

* Visibility... one quarter of a mile or less in many locations
until an hour or two after sunrise.

* Impacts... longer travel times during the morning commute due to
widespread low visibilities. In addition, temperatures are in
the upper teens and low 20s across the area and some of the fog
may freeze on roads or other surfaces such as bridges and
overpasses, leading to icy spots.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A dense fog advisory means visibilities will frequently be
reduced to less than one quarter mile. If driving... slow down...
use your headlights... and leave plenty of distance ahead of you.

Special Statement
Issued: 2:58 AM EST Dec. 11, 2018 – National Weather Service

... Some dense fog and freezing fog in valleys...

Fog has developed in valley locations and has become dense along
some of the larger creeks, lakes, and rivers. Visibilities are
below a quarter of a mile in spots. In addition, temperatures are
in the upper teens to mid 20s across the region. This combination
may lead to some slick or icy spots, especially on some secondary
or untreated roadways as well as bridges and overpasses. The
threat for icy spots will diminish after sunrise temperatures warm
to and above the freezing mark. Use caution and allow extra time
to reach your destination if traveling overnight or during the
morning commute.
