Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 1:54 PM MDT Jul. 18, 2018 – National Weather Service

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a

* Arroyo and small stream flood advisory for...
east central Cibola County in west central New Mexico...

* until 345 PM MDT.

* At 152 PM MDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to slow-
moving thunderstorms impacting areas between Seboyeta and Paguate
just north of Laguna Pueblo. Storm motions were generally toward
the south at 5 to 10 mph. Quick bursts of one-half to one inch
rainfall totals can be expected with localized heavier amounts
along State Road 279. This will cause Arroyo and small stream
flooding in the advisory area. Up to one inch of rain has already
fallen in isolated spots.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Laguna Pueblo, Cebolletita, Paguate, Bibo, Seboyeta, Encinal and
Mesita.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Both localized and distant heavy rainfall will create dangerous flows
in arroyos and over low water crossings. Do not attempt to drive
through these waters. Water in arroyos may travel many miles and take
hours to reach your location from upstream rain areas.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.
