... Next week is severe weather awareness week in Pennsylvania...

The National Weather Service, Pennsylvania emergency
management agency (pema), and County emergency management
officials has declared, April 23rd through April 27th, as severe
weather awareness week in Pennsylvania. National Weather Service
(nws) joins pema, and other emergency management officials, local
agencies, volunteer agencies and private sector organizations in
urging all residents to learn how to protect themselves from
The Hazards of flooding, tornadoes, and severe thunderstorms.

Severe weather awareness week is a time to learn more about
thunderstorms, tornadoes, lightning and flooding and prepare
for the dangers they bring to Pennsylvania during the Spring
and Summer seasons.

National Weather Service offices in the state of Pennsylvania
will conduct a severe weather drill on Tuesday April 24th, 2018
at 9:00 am EDT.

These drills are meant to provide emergency management
agencies, schools, hospitals, nursing facilities, the media and
the public an opportunity to test communications systems,
practice and update safety procedures. This is the best time to
review severe weather terminology.

Each day of severe weather awareness week will focus on a
different topic that emphasized weather safety and preparedness.
Below are the topics that will be covered.

Monday April 23. Tornadoes.

Tuesday April 24. Severe thunderstorms.

Wednesday April 25. Flooding.

Thursday April 26. Severe weather terms and definitions.

Friday April 27. Severe weather preparedness and safety.

Plan ahead for hazards that thunderstorms create. Help US make
