... Heat indices could briefly hit 105 degrees this afternoon...

Highs in the lower 90s combined with increasing humidity behind
sea breeze could push heat indices to around 105 degrees across
portions of southern Berkeley, Charleston and coastal Colleton
counties for 1 to 2 hours this afternoon. Today is the first in a
series of hot and very humid days across the South Carolina
lowcountry and both residents and visitors should take the
necessary precautions as the heat builds.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When
possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or
evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat
stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when
possible and drink plenty of water.
