Flood Warning
Issued: 9:07 AM MDT Mar. 24, 2019 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the Cheyenne river near Plainview.
* Until further notice.
* At 8:15 am Sunday the stage was 18.2 feet.
* Flood stage is 17.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast.
* Forecast... the river will continue to fall to a stage of 18.0 feet
by Monday morning.

Areal Flood Advisory
Issued: 11:10 AM MDT Mar. 24, 2019 – National Weather Service

... The flood advisory remains in effect until 1045 am MDT Tuesday for
Haakon... Oglala Lakota... Jackson... Bennett and eastern Pennington
counties...

Reports from County officials, trained weather spotters, and
automated river gages indicate that minor flooding in low-lying
areas continues as a result of melting snow and drainage issues.
With snowmelt expected to continue early this week, flooding will
persist or worsen.

In Pennington County, several roads are closed. The 164th Avenue
bridge located 2 miles south of Highway 1416 has been closed due to
flood-related damage.

In Haakon County, reports from trained spotters and automated river
gages indicate that the bad river is fluctuating, but there is no
flooding ongoing near Midland. Minor flooding continues on the
Cheyenne river near Plainview.

In Jackson County, Highway 63 remains closed at the White River
crossing south of Interstate 90. Significant flooding continues
along the White River.

In Oglala Lakota County, high flows persist along White Clay,
Porcupine, American horse, and Wounded Knee creeks, along with other
drainages in the County.

In Bennett County, high flows continue along the tributaries of the
little White River, leading to the washout of some rural roads. More
significant flooding is ongoing along the little White River from
near Martin east to the Todd County line.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
