Flood Warning, Areal Flood Warning
Issued: 11:03 PM EDT Jun. 22, 2018 – National Weather Service

The Flood Warning continues for
the Rappahannock River at Remington.
* Until late Saturday night.
* At 10 PM Friday the stage was 17.9 feet.
* Flood stage is 15.0 feet.
* Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast.
* Recent activity... the maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at
10 PM Friday was 17.9 feet.
* Forecast... the river will continue rising to near 20.5 feet by
overnight tonight. The river will fall below flood stage late
tomorrow evening.
* Impact... at 20.0 feet... a few homes south of Remington are flooded
along with adjacent roads.

northwestern Madison... Frederick... Warren... Clarke and Page counties
in northwestern Virginia... Fauquier County in northern Virginia...
northern Greene County in central Virginia... Rappahannock County in
northwestern Virginia... central Culpeper in northern Virginia and
the city of Winchester...

At 1057 PM EDT, the Virginia Department of Transportation and County
911 centers reported many roads blocked by high and rising water.

Some locations that may experience flooding include...
Winchester, Culpeper, Front Royal, Warrenton, Millwood Pike, Luray,
Bealeton, Berryville, Shenandoah, Stephens City, Stanley,
Sperryville, the plains, Delaplane, Linden, Star Tannery, Big
Meadows, Hume, New Baltimore and Marshall.

... A Flood Warning remains in effect until 915 am EDT Saturday for
southern Fauquier and central Culpeper counties...

At 1051 PM EDT, reporting gauges indicated major flooding across the
area. The stream gauge on the Hazel river at Rixeyville was at 26.2
feet and rising. Homes off Monumental Mills Road near Butler store
Road begin to flood when the river reaches this level.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

If you are in a flood prone area, move to higher ground now to
protect your life.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding.
