??Best Camera-phone under $500??

By: GardenGrrl , 10:56 AM GMT on March 07, 2017

Hi Folks, really going to miss the blogs for asking questions like this.

It's time for a new phone. According to tech reviewers all phones under $500 are "cheap". Perhaps I need to become a tech reviewer.

Who really likes the camera on their cellphone? What kind is it? Do you wish you had someone elses cellphone camera? Inquiring camera buff wants to know. Oh yeah, also need the phone part.

PS, before the blogs disappear dear friends and lurkers, if I don't have your contact info and you would like to stay in contact send a WU mail before it is all gone forever.

It seems in GB you all take gardening quite seriously.

You got to believe it!! We definitely do!
According to Wiki there are over 2500 garden centres in the UK and that does not include the garden departments at all the Homebase and B&Q stores (Like your Lowes I believe) ... even some supermarkets sell plants, pots and composts.

G/G! ~ Great news! I've pretty much been able to copy many of the WU maps seen on my WU blogsite onto a newly developed one under Masshysteria on Rob's testing site. I've miraculously gotten the hang of it. It shouldn't be too difficult to change the same header each month to reflect each one and the seasons. Check it out when you have the chance. I plan to add the Unysis maps a bit later. I figured out how to insert and link up all posts as well. Spacing and indenting is a breeze due to extra functional buttons offered, so now I won't have to keep manually typing in the space code to center everything on a page. What a relief!

Here's a direct link to my new tester blogging site: Masshysteria's testing blogsite on the newArk2. I believe you've already joined as a member there so access should be no problem. Let me know what you think when you get the chance.

Ylee's webcam site is phenomenal! It shows up clearer, larger and brighter than it did here on WU! He included great selections and used newer additional weatherstickers not seen here. I've got to find out where he procured them and if they're free.

Hi All, it was so windy yesterday that Roxie didn't get much of a walk. Getting pelted with things and clouds of dust sort of took the fun out of it. All that wind brought on a Fire Warning. Good news, lots of rain this morning. Yay.

Today is the start of the Pinball Festival! Won't be around much.

Hi Mom, yes I'm still alive. Am going to have to get you signed on to Flickr or the Ark and Facebook. Well, you are already on Facebook. Funny how neither of us ever used it. You were in my "Friend Request" queue for a year before I went through it.

Anyhow, bought my new phone. Hope it works good. It is a US version unlocked Galaxy Edge S7 for $150 what I have seen the phone for even at ATT stores. It is AT&T branded which is fine because I'm switching to them for better signal. May switch to h20 later after I get all the AT&T updates for the phone if they are cheaper. Pretty much assuming these were someones order mistake hence the good price at this web site but will need ATT updates.

Now off to take Roxie to doggie camp. She is pretty damp from being outside. Will need to bring a towel and dry her off more at camp.

Hi Sandi, so funny to see compost along with groceries. Not something you would see here. It seems in GB you all take gardening quite seriously. Probably why I like you :-)

Mass - " I can still recall opening up the bottle lids to find cream sitting on the top. One could either remove to use for coffee or shake it up to combine."

As a child our milk was like that but I now have healthy 1% fat milk (and skimmed milk) so no cream left in it. There is actually more calcium in today's milk by volume than there was back then. The reason I keep the milkman - I am the only one in the street who does - is the company are called "Milk and More". The deliver things like eggs, cream, fresh bread, potatoes etc, but also garden multi-composts and soil enhancers etc. That saves me having to fetch them - carry them to my car - lift them into my car and bring them home. The milkman delivers them right to my back gate! Perfect.

Good Morning, have decided on splurging or at least hoping it comes down in price a bit on the Galaxy S7. The S8 is coming out in April so hoping for price drop on S7.
A new co-worker has the S7 and it is a very nice phone that takes very nice pictures. I hope my model is as robust as his because he drops it all the time and it still works.

Another beautiful day. Have just finished breakfast so need to hurry outside and enjoy before the HEAT comes. Then Roxie and I will be stuck inside like it was winter.

Hi Sandi, I do use powdered milk for my coffee and tea because it does not cool it down. (I use a lot in my tea.) Am so surprised you still get milk deliveries. When I was in London during the 80's it amazed me to see bottles of milk on inner city apartment steps.

Hi Mass, wheni lived in MInnesota definitely did some fancy snow men. Would sometimes spray paint them. Twas good times but am a bit old for -10f now.

Hi WTS, I see you are serving Scooter for dinner ;-) Didn't get around to painting house. Was too nice out.

Hi Tony, am heading out door now with Miss Roxie.

Good morning GG. A couple of days ago the great grand daughters had some chocolate flavored breakfast stuff, it was good and left chocolate milk behind.
Have a good day.

Hi G/G! ~ Guess you're still outside basking in the glow of that warm weather your way and who could blame you! It's a balmy 17F degrees here this early am and there's nothing here to bask in except being under the covers while the sunlight partially streams through a tightly closed small window. Does that count? LOL!

I see where Sandi, via her previous comment, thought you used powered milk for breakfast rather than having accidentally added a vanilla-flavored powdered protein mix to it. Easy enough mistake given my previous statement about the Cheerios episode the other day. I envy her, though, for still being able to have a milkman daily deliver milk to her door. It's been decades since we had such local dairies provide the same service for a then very reasonable fee. They're now all obsolete! I can still recall opening up the bottle lids to find cream sitting on the top. One could either remove to use for coffee or shake it up to combine. Back then, no one seemed to know about high cholesterol induced foods (butter not margarine) and beverages (cream, etc.) and its correlation to clogged arteries, etc. It sure made everything taste so good but not helpful to one's health. Boy, how we've evolved since then!

Have a great Thursday and will check back with you again later!

Milk power....?
I haven't used milk power for over 50 years! When I was a teenager a milk powder called Marvel was fashionable to put in your coffee - it was useful at college when we didn't have fridges in our rooms, as it didn't go off... but would no more think of using it now than eating cold cabbage!
I have my milk delivered to the door at 4 am each morning... yes - we still have milk deliveries here. You pay a premium but I like to pick up a "bottle" of milk off the doorstep to make my first coffee of the day!! lol

Hmm, painting the outside of house - something I have been thinking of but putting off. I like the color scheme but need to see if the 13 year old colors are still available. Now is the season, will get too hot soon enough... Enjoy the weekend!

G/G!! ~ Boy, what it must be like to be feel summery-like weather right now! I've almost forgotten myself. Every time we get a hint of a near normal, early spring-like day, wintry weather suddenly returns with a vengence to keep disrupting the process. I think Tony and I will soon have to take up ice and/or snow sculpturing as a hobby. I seriously doubt Texas will be suffering our plight but, if miraculously so, we'll be happy to lend you our ice sculpting tools. In the meantime, hope you're able to enjoy your warm summery weather down there to its fullest!! One can only imagine the lovely pics you'll be able to take with that great camera of yours! I'll be checking for them on Flickr or the new Ark?!

Chuckled at your comment, on Tony's site, about your earlier breakfast Cheerios having swum on a sea of vanilla flavored (instead of plain), protein powdered induced milk. Hey, I can easily make that oversight while attempting to correctly read labels in the grocery store as well. I'm overdo for new glasses!

Good Morning. It is currently overcast and not real windy. Roxie will get a quick walk at the lake but no camera safari as this light is not good for nature shots. So I'm thinking about doing some more painting on the outside of the house.

Hi Tony, yep, definitely a walk day. Going to be overcast so Roxie won't get too hot.

Hi Calpoppy, YES! Happy Friday indeed. Now it is Saturday and am going in all different directions in what I want to do today.

Hi Shirley, Thank you. The Wax Wings have been coming around so I know it is spring. Haven't seen a hummingbird yet but have the feeder out.

Good Morning All, It's my Friday! If I'm not too tired when I get home will catch up with everyone tonight. It is going to be beautiful outside the next few days so am bouncing off the walls trying to decide which, where what to go outside and see. Yard work and house work can wait. Spring blooms are calling.

Hi Sandi, Calpoppy, Ylee (dang that picture made me laugh), Rob, LowerCal, Mass (oh those lyrics ring true), and Shirley and WTS!!!

Thanks for coming by all. See ya this evening.

Saw your comment on my blog ... We could have it on the Saturday night...April Fool's Night!!

Hi G/G! ~ I think Saturday, April Fool's night would be perfect for a farewell blog party, since Sunday the 2nd might be cutting it too close with the change over. My guess is that by the stroke of midnight, that night, all blogs will be going overboard due to the Dupral debacle.

Happy 1st of spring by the way! It's presently sunny and our temps made their way to 51F as a high. Unfortunately, that high is short-lived for this upcoming weekend, more snow flurries could arrive followed by a mixed bag next Monday. Somebody at the NWS didn't get the springtime memo!

Hi G/G! ~ Thought I'd stop by and leave you a humorous little lyrical parody created for the closing of the WU blogs. Hope it provides a chuckle or two.

I found an old tune by Joni Mitchell (and added some parodied lyrics of my own) that seem to also fit or mimic both our lot in life here on WU and sometimes life in general.

Big Yellow Taxi
Joni Mitchell,

They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot
(With a smaller website, one blog
...a dwindling) hot spot!
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
'Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

They took all the (BLOGS)
And put them in a (BLOG MUSEUM)
And they'll charge all the people
(Quite some dollars) just to see 'em
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
'Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And they put up a parking lot

Hey (blogger, blogger)
Put away that D.D.T. now
(We've got new sites on Flickr, Disqus,
the New Ark, please go see them)
Please!!!!!
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
'Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

Late last night
I heard the screen door slam
And a big (corporate giant)
Took away my (WU fans)
Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
'Till it's gone
They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

Don't it always seem to go
That you don't know what you've got
'Till it's gone
They paved paradise
Put up a parking lot

They paved paradise
And put up a parking lot

They paved paradise
Put up a parking lot

Original songwriter: Joni Mitchell

Thanks Sandi. Dang, so many different sites to sift through now.

Dang, friend, ain't it the truth? LOL! I've had to create new shortcuts to the three new web/blog sites so to easily enter them when clicking onto my ie startup icon. Nevertheless, it's great having three sources rather than none to find those who don't wish to join most on the new Ark or to Flickr or Seeds of WU on Disqus. It was a luxury to have one stop blogging here, but what else can one do?

LIke you, I just read Ylee's final blog and started to tear up. I never realized that, back in 2011, I had banned him due to my being inundated with a troll situation back in those early years. Glad I got to quickly know him better through posts, as he's been a true friend and inspiration to many since. Truthfully, when I first started posting back in June of 2009, people thought my moniker was suspicious or nefarious and banned me as well. Thankfully, a benevolent blogger, Auburn, WU mailed me to say he thought my moniker was humorous but to also confirm that I wasn't trying to spam or create ire. Soon after, the blog gates opened back up again so to post on other blogsites as well.

It's dastardly cold here this morning with sunrise temps of 16F heading slightly upward into the freezing zone right now. We could also get a few flurries overnight and less than an inch tomorrow. Hard to believe all this incredibly wintry weather's arrived up here only a couple weeks and/or days before spring arrives on Monday. Hopefully, April will be far more benevolent to those of us still miserably hunkered down in heavy duty flannel and such just trying to stay warm ... on the inside of one's home!!!

Hope some of that wonderful warmth found down your way will soon make its way up here. Would be nice to see some greenery and plant growth return here before June!

Brushing Roxie outdoors is good for the birds! They can use the stray dog hair for nesting material! I once had a White Persian cat who had long fur and required brushing three or four time a week. I collected the fur and put it out in a mesh tray with some feathers - about now - early March. The bluetits loved it! They had the warmest, softest nests in the area!

How did the six month check up go...?

Good Morning, warm and overcast. Am treating myself to a massage this morning. Then it's going to be catch up on all the chores I have been neglecting so that means about an hour of actual house cleaning interspersed with maybe walking the dog at lake, playing with camera and pictures, internet, goofing off.

Hi Mass, good to know Prose is getting everything taken care of. Quite warm and humid. Still, it will be great for clipping Roxies nails then walking here on the side walk around the lake to dull the sharp spots left from clipping. Probably give her a good brushing out there as well. Hey, that counts as a responsible chore now.

Hi Calpoppy, hope you find a bio-degradable puppy shampoo. I lucked out finding the indoor dog wash. Roxie is contained in the tub and has a leash clip to keep her from running off or jumping out. Can you believe the Bluebonnets are already blooming at the lake? Hope I'm not out of Bluebonnets and pretty shots mid-April in the Hill Country.

Good morning from sunny Llano! Next week rainy Llano if their predictions are correct. I have found out a new way to bath TNT without them getting upset. Just do it in the creek! Yesterday I took them on our afternoon hike, they were hot and soaked their feet in the creek, I then started cupping water with my hands to put on top of them and they loved it. So I need to check their dog shampoo to see if it is okay to use in the creek and maybe we can wash them today:))) Tess liked it so much when I was putting water on Tagg she butted in and said more please:))

Good Morning, G/G, and a HAPPY ST. PATTY'S DAY to ya!

As of yesterday, Prose posted that all the essential people needed had been contacted and requested to survey the damage done to her house. She's is also mentioned that they, themselves, are doing fine and walking gingerly on the icy/snowy sidewalks when taking Mimi out for her daily walks. I posted to her, while outside, not to regress back to the days while young and attempting to skate Figure 8's on ice rinks. She laughed and seems in reasonably good
spirits considering.

Boy your region is having all the luck of the Irish with you current temps at near 68F and ours at a freezing low of 28F. We need our weather leprechauns to quickly get cracking on that near springtime disparity!

At least our sun's a shining and there are no further signs of snow or windstorms in sight ... for now. At least, we
might be able to usher in the official spring date, Monday, with a balmy 47F. Hey, slow but sure progress??

In any event, hope your six month's checkup went well, the other day, and your workload doesn't keep you too stressed! May your weekend be an enjoyably relaxing one .. whenever you have the time to spare!

Good Morning. Off to the doctors for the six month check. It's downtown and they are doing strange things to 35 so have to leave early. No telling what exit or detour is happening today.

Hi Tony, the closest thing to simple is a flip phone. They look sort of like early Star Trek communicators. They also have bigger number pads.

Hi Mass, that is so unreal to see tornado type wind damage from a winter storm. weather sure is getting strange. Poor Pros. that has to really be upsetting to her.

Hi Sandi, yes, very long week business is good so we are building out the plant like crazy. Not much down time.

Good Morning G/G! ~ Check out Aquak9's blogsite for a copy of the pic I posted (with permission from Proserpina, of course) of the severe damage done to the side and siding of her home yesterday. Apparently, Fairfax, VA had a severe windstorm and it really walloped her home and created structural damage to others nearby.

She and RainDad already contacted their home insurance company for a claims adjuster to come out (the earliest is Monday) and a repairman is to come today to assess it all.

Boy, I have absolutely nothing to complain about after seeing this pic. My few replacement shingles and cost of repairs last week (before our blizzard) only cost us $30.00. The timing was impeccable! I only hope that Prose, her hubby and Mimi can remain safe and warm till all is said and done.

Hi GG, Best Buy Online is what I use. Just started when I got my router. Saw my son's and inquired. He sent me the link. I got the router, printer, and seems like there was somthing else tech. I later ordered my new house phones through them and. Quick service and great prices. Was there almost next or two. Free shipping.

Good Morning.

Oh yeah, daylight savings time. Was really tired and went to bed at like 6pm last night. Glad I did. Forgot to set clock forward. Fortunately my phone has an alarm that I set for twenty minutes after my first alarm as a gentle reminder to hurry up with the getting dressed and morning zombie walk.

So, Hi Mass, Sandi and Rob, I'm off to work now.

Why swap carriers?

Well, here because of $$$. I had AT&T for many years. Was very satisfied with the service and the coverage. Then they started focusing so much on data and all inclusive plans and the prices kept going up. Finally had enough and went shopping. Went with consumer cellular because I have 1500 minutes per month for $20 per month plus taxes. $2.50 per month for the smallest text or data plan just in case somebody absolutely has to send me a text or I want to download an update for a phone. $10.00 per additional line per month and shared minutes. For $10 more per month you can get unlimited minutes. Customer service is great and you can buy and finance discounted phones if you want to or bring your own phone. And...They use the AT&T network. Didn't even have to change my voicemail. So basically, I'm getting 3 lines for a fraction of what I paid before. They don't have huge data plans for cheap though.

Not knocking AT&T, was real happy with them and they are great if you need a whole lot of data, especially if you also have Directv. (be advised, the directv app they are marketing so hard only works on android or apple phones)

When choosing a carrier, it is always important to talk to other people where you live, work, or often travel and see if they have good coverage. Most carriers cover about the same areas now so it's not as big a deal as it used to be, but for a long time that was another reason you might need to switch.

Anyway, there is another 2 cents worth. It is sometimes a better deal to just buy the unlocked phone that you want. Just depends on how you use it. Ask lots of questions and read the fine print.

And TheArk is up and running. Had to change some of the standard configuration files to make it work on a server that uses UTC. Doesn't say that in the docs.

Have a great evening.

Wanted to also remind you and others in the U.S. that tonight's daylight savings time..
With a severe blizzard forecast looming ahead in Mass., we will probably get to see
our snow accumulation melt an hour longer in the upcoming week or so leading to
Spring's official arrival on the 20th. Hey, nothing says spring like cold and snow
in the Northeast!

Seems as of this Monday night into Tues. night, we could be in for a dumping of a foot of snow altogether!
There's some indication that there could be a few lingering flakes on Weds. am as well. Glad we're stocked
up on groceries and have gas for our snowblower and/or (hopefully not used) generator.

Rob's new Ark website is currently down for maintenance so I'm making good use of my time here while I've still got
access to WU. Thrilled to see that Ylee's able to post an initial webcam of Milos there! It would be great if his webcam/blog could continue on Flickr and/or the new Ark! Would miss those exquisite or interesting scenes
from across the globe and/or nationally.

How about checking out the photostream of our new Flickr member jlynfriend. All her photos are taken with a phone... a LG electronics VS986. She has some stunning images.

Hi G/G! ~ Miraculously, I was finally able to log into WU last night after a three-day glitch exile!
I finished copying all my needed color, font, embed, map, etc. codes and URLs from within my blogheader
onto MS WORD. It took up three pages! There was a time I had written down some of these codes or urls
by hand on notepads but I'll be darned if I know where I put them all or whether they would be legible to me
now. My handwriting's getting atrocious!

Ylee just noted that there were some issues with logging into WU today, so I'm now afraid to run my
complete spyware for fear I won't be able to get back in again when completed. Hope that's not the
case but, if so, I've finished up the things I needed to do on WU but am leaving my blog open to see
posts just in case. If I can't access WU later on today, I'll hook up with you on Flickr or perhaps you
can check out Rob's "The new Ark2"? That site is really blossoming and is soon to include the many
features currently seen here as well as individual blog sites again. It's free, private once a member
and no-ads!! I have a direct link to it on my blogheader and site. I'm loving that particular site so far!!

Oh I forgot to tell you that it snowed yesterday afternoon! Was quite the winter
wonderland outside but, thankfully, we received only a couple inches of accumulation! I'm
truly surprised that I was able to post a pic here! Will miracles ever cease? This is what
the large snowflakes looked like whilest falling into my backyard! My LG Tracfone
2 MP cameraphone isn't really the greatest for taking pictures, but it's all I've got and
can afford right now. Thankfully, the ipiccy.com free photo-editing site does the trick
in helping me to sharpen or enhance it a bit.
