After 8 days on what I have come to call 'The Anthill' of O'ahu, I was sure glad to see Hilo appear out of the window of the Hawaiian Airlines plane that brought me back to home turf.

I know that I could never live on O'ahu again..particularly on the Honolulu side!

The best part was visiting my old friends and hearing, for the first time in several years, a rather fine symphony orchestra in the Blaisdell Concert Hall..the new 'Hawai'i Symphony' that, in effect, replaced the defunct Honolulu Symphony of yesteryear/yestercentury. I even had a chance to hang out for the best part of last Thursday with several members of the former symphony who have been my friends for several decades.

And now to the 'business' of re-adjusting to the small town way of life! It will likely take me a few days to downshift!

More later!

The trades are diminishing somewhat but it is still a bit more breezy than usual. It is supposed to diminish to nothing tomorrow with the possibility of some rain showers in the offing. It would appear, from the upwind area satellite images that we will indeed see an uptick in precip.

A very uneventful flight with lots of space on the plane which is unusual! The weather here is great tho the trades have been very brisk with a lot of sea spray making for a hazy sky. Good for the surfers as 6+ ft waves are rather unusual at this time of year.I will not be returning to Hilo until Wednesday the 16th as I have much to do here on this visit. I'm able to access the net here at my friend's home on the windward side but don't like to hog it! She uses ...

I will try to post from Kailua O'ahu while I am up there but it may be difficult for me to do. The conditions there have been far different than here on the Big Island. It has been rather dry in Honolulu and on the windward side of the island for a few weeks but it will be nice to see more sun than I've seen here in Hilo for that period of time. Aloha for now

Today in Hilo was a perfect Sunday more like what we see from Mid June to late September. Very much like leeward O'ahu is for much of the year. Temps in the low 80s, only 10% of the sky covered with clouds most of the morning and afternoon and gentle trades. It was a fine day for outdoor work which is exactly what I did. I'll have some more to do tomorrow and then early Tuesday morning I'll be off to O'ahu for about a week. It will be a combined business/pleasure...
