A Sunny April Fools Day in Mid Michigan

By: chatcat, 3:01 PM GMT on April 01, 2017

Today is starting out much nicer than expected.  We have sun and almostly clear skies.  The past two days brought 1.14 inches of rain and more is expected early this upcoming week.  I'm looking for signs of flowers sprouting in my gardens but no sign yet.  Today will be a great day for cleaning out my flower beds, so that's my plans for the day.
Right now (11 AM), out temp is 40°F, the humidity is 50%, and winds are from the  NNW at 6 mph.  The pre...

Lots of Rain in Mid Michian

By: chatcat, 1:41 PM GMT on March 25, 2017

Yesterday was gorgeous with temps reaching the 70° mark, light winds, and plenty of sun.  Unfortunately, we're paying for it now with moderate to heavy rain falling since midnight.  There was 0.70" in my gauge at 8 AM, and it has been raining steady since then.  The radar is showing a lot more on the way so not expecting to do much outdoors today.  Besides the rain, our high today will only be in the low 40s if we're lucky.  So yes, q...

A Damp Spring Morning in Mid Michigan

By: chatcat, 1:42 PM GMT on March 20, 2017

OUR 9:30 AM temp is 38°F, the humidity is 79%, and skies are overcast.  We rec'd 0.08" of rai...

A White World Once Again in Mid Michigan

By: chatcat, 1:35 PM GMT on March 18, 2017

We have 1.5 inches of very heavy, wet snow this morning which melted down to 0.24".  It is very pretty and I know that it won't last very long with our temp already above freezing.  I should put my boots on and go out for a walk since it really is quite a nice morning.
Our 9:15 AM temp is 33°F (0°C), the humidity is 92% and winds are calm.  The pressure is 29.96 in (1014.3 mb) and visibility is 2 miles.  The dew point is 32°F (0°C) and skies are c...

Cleanup Effort Continues From Wednesday's Gale Force Winds - Mid Michigan

By: chatcat, 2:10 PM GMT on March 10, 2017

The photo above is from the "Durand Now" Facebook page and shows the extent of the wind damage in that city.  Recovery from the wind storm on Wednesday continues and some power may not be restored until Tomorrow.  I'm so happy that we are not one of those without.  Today will see more wind, not what is needed in the recovery effort; however it won't be as bad as Tuesday and Wednesday.  The prediction is for March to be colder than normal, ...
